Requirements to get a Retirement Visa

Post by cigar »

Could someone explain all of requirements, rules and provide instructions on how to get a retirement visa in Cambodia? I'm a 63 old Canadian currently with a Thai retirement visa thinking of spending half my time in Cambodia and half in Thailand. To exit and return to Cambodia, while on a retirement visa, is a re-entry permit also required, like in Thailand?

Visa thread here.
general-chatter/visa-updates-october-20 ... ent%20visa

To sum up, everyone enters Cambodia with a one month visa - either tourist visa T $30 or ordinary visa E $35. If you want to apply for a retirement visa, then ask for an ordinary visa at immigration, and once you are in Cambodia you can apply for a retirement EOS - extension of stay.
For the moment, the fact that you are 63 years old should get you a ER - retirement visa - with no further questions. You can get a 6 month or 12 month ER visa extension with multiple entry.
However, this is the situation right now, and it may change before you get here, so keep up to date. Any major changes will be posted on the expat forums.

Is that with having to put 800k baht in the bank or not? All good if you can get both countries visas.

How could you have held a Cambodian ER EOS for 2 years if they were only introduced in Sept 2016? :unknown:

I believe people over 120 years old are ineligible for application.
