Aliya, Cambodian star, appeals for justice on social media

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Justice by Facebook: A Cambodian social trend.
Yet another person is appealing to the authorities for justice through social media. Instead of going directly to the authorities, well known personality Aliya has posted her legal dispute on Facebook.
In the old days, Cambodian people who were denied justice would petition the rich and powerful to intervene for them. Now they petition through social media.

Siem Reap: On 21 February 2108, Aliya, a well-known Cambodian woman, who gives to charities to help old people and orphans in Siem Reap, is complaining on social media that she is being threatened by a French man with a Khmer wife, who are trying to confiscate the shop she is renting. She says they are reneging on their signed contract, and that he is trying to kick her out of the shop with insults and menaces.
Because of this, she doesn't have a place to stay and is also depressed, so she is asking the authorities to help her to lay a complaint against the French man to get justice for this 'cheating and abusing of Khmer women'.

good for her, except that seeking justice through social media only works when the perpetrator has a public personality, in this case she need to post their photos

That's very rude. Maybe she was tricked into using that phone cover.

Is this a valid complaint? It doesn't sound like it:

"Dear CEO,

I am contacting you on behalf of The Dirty Cuts MC - we are a small community based MC based in Siem Reap. I am the Secretary and Acting President of the club.

A photo using our insignia has been used in a post on your forum, and we are kindly requesting that it be removed immediately.

We in no way represent this person or her personal issues, nor have we given permission for the use of our logo.

She has also agreed that the image will be removed from her Social Media Account to avoid any confusion.

Thankyou for your understanding and cooperation in advance.

Have a great weekend"

Will have to let our lawyers look at this one, as I wasn't aware you need permission to pose with branded merchandise.

I've seen her content on her facebook page. She often plays the victim of some kind of abuse, seemingly from a boyfriend.

It's hard to imagine the authorities responding to this.

Back to the OP. Who is the French guy and why is he kicking her out ? He will probably say that she hasn't paid her rent and it's all a storm in a FB tea cup.
