Re: Eye Glasses in PP
I've seen them cut their own acrylic lenses on a small machine about the size of a box of A4 paper at an optician's shop. Only takes a few minutes to do too.

I wanted a spare -2 power that is with a minus diopter which seems impossible to find on the counter anywhere I have found in usa nor Philippines. Eg the common positive powers reading glasses which are $1.00 at all dollar stores in usa and even less in Philippines haven't yet run across. But anyway today for about the cheapest frames they made me a -2 power also after a free rudimentary eye test and yes she agreed -2 what was about what i needed. Anyway charged me $10 at Italy optics No. 129 street 144 very near intersection street 13, it's a small place. So if u know what power u want should be able to get any for that price of $10. She also said she could grind(or whatever u call it) -2 power for the lowest price sunglasses and even adjust the tint for total $12 though i have yet to see whether that is really true. If u only need the more common reading glasses you should certainly not need to pay anywhere that high of a price. And just for comparison for the far less common see far away negative diopter I ordered two -1's(and one had a choice of various negative powers) from China for less that $5.00 including shipping. So in general eyeglassess not a good deal here.LatinGemini wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2018 12:43 am Hello...Where's a good place to buy eyeglasses in PP? Thanks.

That is the best place I've found also. My eyes are pretty bad and my lenses are ground out of country. I tried Poly Optical, and while they may be good for simple prescriptions, I threw away the glasses they made for me. Couldn't possibly use them.John Bingham wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2018 1:12 am Eye Care on the corner of 130 and Norodom seems pretty good to me. I don't need glasses, but I had to get some for my kid one time and they seem to have a pretty good set-up. The extensive eye test is free, then you can choose some frames and pick them up a day or so later. I think it was only $45. I bought a pair of shades in there another time, no eye tests but somehow they also cost $45. All good.

Has anyone bought transitions or multifocals here? I appear to be aging.

I was prescribed multifocals at a place on the corner of 360 and Monivong Blvd. $200 ouch. They got them made in Japan. Weird to wear at the start. I kept seeing movement of small things out of the corner of my eyes.

Side issues - could be the size of the frames and you are seeing the edge of the frames. As to use, just adjust the frames on your face and move your eyes up and down to see the focal distances.Heng Heng Heng wrote:I was prescribed multifocals at a place on the corner of 360 and Monivong Blvd. $200 ouch. The side areas on Progressive lenses are not focally adjusted. It is just the central vertical areas of the lenses.

Yep, and if you've got a boof head like me and need wider frames, the distortion on the sides is quite dramatic.stevenjb wrote: ↑Sun Jun 03, 2018 5:53 amSide issues - could be the size of the frames and you are seeing the edge of the frames.
