Japanese firm unveils plan to build World Trade Center in TTP
PPP:
The recently announced World Trade Centre Phnom Penh is the first project by a Japanese construction company in the capital’s Tuol Tompong neighbourhood.
Tuol Tompong might seem an unusual choice of location for an ambitiously-named World Trade Center, but a Japanese developer is confident its planned $65 million multi-purpose building will transform the sleepy residential neighbourhood into a vibrant hub of commercial life.
Construction on the World Trade Center Phnom Penh (WTCPP) is set to begin in April, with the 23-storey multi-use building expected to open in 2021. Designed and constructed by Japanese firms, the new complex will include office space, retail outlets and a hotel. The project will occupy a 3,375 square metre footprint, with a total floor area of 43,724 square metres.
The company behind the project, WTCPP Management Co Ltd, is a joint venture between two subsidiaries of Tokyo-based construction firm Urata Co Ltd. Best of luck to you folks living out in TTP, what with the dust, noise and heavy traffic for 2-3 years, plus all the electrical and communication infrastructure that has to be laid in trenches. Oh, and the new condo apartments to be constructed and, sorry, rent hikes. To think I almost moved there last summer gives me shivers.

Great, they are bringing all that development into the area, but no one seems to think about the roads and parking that is really fucked up as it is

the building will likely have many japanese tenants. they are very clever people and have a tendency towards good planning and execution.
