Less VoIP scammers predicted over Chinese New Year
30 January 2018
- A Chinese man was arrested today at Siem Reap airport as he prepared to leave the country to return home to China for Chinese New Year.
He was arrested on suspicion that he belonged to a team of 25 Chinese nationals involved in VoIP scamming in Phnom Penh, at RATANA Residence Tower, 5th Floor, Street 444, Toul Tum Poung II, Khan Chamkar Mon.
He was the only one of the team who was arrested, because all his colleagues had already gone home for the Chinese holiday. He was taken back to the crime scene by police for explanations.
Moral: it does not pay to be the last one out the door.
