Thai men gripped by penis-whitening trend

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Thai men gripped by penis-whitening trend

Post by Micmac »

Thailand's public health ministry has issued a warning over a new and bizarre trend of penis whitening, which has been linked to the country's assocation of paleness with success.

The phallic fad has unexpectedly extended to men who believe a paler penis and groin area looks more attractive.

white colour is fattening
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes

Thailand a “laughing stock” as European doctors slam penis whitening at Bangkok hospital
Doctors at a surgeon’s conference held in Paris on Sunday warned men not to have their penises whitened in Thailand.

This comes despite the fact that the Tourism Authority of Thailand promotes the hospital where the procedure is done in the Bangkok area.

Lelux hospital administrator Bantit Watanasiri told the “International Master Course on Aging Science” in the French capital that three or four patients a day were coming to her facility for the treatment.

She said it costs 520 Euros or 20,500 baht for five whitening treatments.

“We have about 100 customers a month,” she said.

But experts in Paris slammed the Thais in what Thai Rath said was making the country a laughing stock in the international cosmetic surgery community.

Dr Fabian Bouchet cautioned: “Really – you should not do that”.

While Italian Dr Maximilliano Brambilla said the chemicals used could cause severe adverse reactions and should only be used as a last resort in cosmetic procedure.Thai public health authorities have already warned the public not to have the treatment done at the Nonthaburi hospital.

Experts said either laser or chemical treatment could leave Thai todgers being even blacker than before.

An internet search by Thaivisa shows that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) still recommends the Lelux hospital as an excellent facility for cosmetic surgery in Thailand.
