Battambang as a tourist destination?

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

There's also a street one and a half. Well worth visiting.

Good thread.

Is there a Lucky Supermarket, Angkok Mart or some such in Battambang?

What airline flies to BB? Just checked Cambodian Angkor and Bassaka. No luck.

I once considered Siem Reap as a place to settle down but got turned off by a number of factors, including a dodgy power supply. Does BB get the usual brown-outs or complete failure of electricity supply?

is there a Lucky Supermarket in Snooky or kampot? I once considered Snooky and kampot as places to settle down but got turned off by a number of factors, including a dodgy power supply and far too many backpackers :stir:

I was not there long enough to have a good look around but I did not spot any supermarket or Kwik-e-mart anywhere. I did see a KFC, Pizza Company, Swensens and a Gloria Jeans, unfortunately.

The power was out for at least an hour one morning. My hotel had a bloody great generator outside that apparently failed to kick in. I saw them tinkering with it later. But then supply is very patchy. Even in PP it's pretty good at Riverside and BKK1 while at the place I lived at Orussey it went out a lot.

There's an airport?

Yes. It's a 2 storey building one block south of the highway and just back from the River. Mainly Thai products. There are also some stores on the north side of the market near the new Seng Hout hotel.

Never saw any planes. The airport is very close town.

Don't remember any power cuts but we were out a lot.

Battambang is WAY too boring.... Please stay in Kampot/Snooky/PP etc...Just the way we like it...
There is an airport but the only flights are when VIP"S are visiting, HE etc...
Try "River Bar" for a relaxing arvo/evening...Outdoor bar...
The circus is well worth a look...
