In search of stove top espresso maker

Post by KHarding »

Hi all!

So I've looked at Lucky Supermarket at Ratana Plaza, Bayon Market and the kitchen store there on the 2nd level, and I cannot find a stove top espresso maker. I also don't know what to call it in Khmer so am not able to ask locals where I could find such a contraption. I haven't ventured to Orussei market or Russian Market yet because I am wary of wandering around for hours pointlessly. Any help? Or anyone willing to sell or give away theirs? Thanks!

Something like this, not picky about the size, but medium would be preferred!

I believe that's a Turkish coffee maker, just wave a picture of it around on your phone at Central Market

KHarding, Mrs Stroppy is overseas for a couple of weeks but I'm sure she'd be happy to walk you around Psaar TTP (Russian Market) when she gets back to help you find your feet.

Mr Stroppy, that would be great :) I don't have a smart phone, so I can't wave that around, but maybe I can print a picture. Thanks for the idea. And thank you for offering your wife's help :)

Also, strongly recommended to get a smartphone as Google Maps is invaluable here.

It's called: "Chnang Chomhoy Gaffee" in Cambodian language. You'll find it at every local market. Avoid Psar Thmay though because Psar Thmay = Psar Thlay

Across the road from Orressey Market is a Sen Veng Yu coffee shop. It is next to a tailor shop. They have them and also excellent coffee at great prices.

I wouldn't be sending any new recruit near Orressey though - that's a bit deer in the headlights, IMO.

??? Orussey is central and they have everything you need for local prices (well, it'll take a while till you find what you are looking for, but that's o.k., I guess)

Hey look, another map:
