Ride-by thieves in Kampot

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

This was back in the late 70s.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

hopefully Kampot can nip this in the before it gets too bad.

You shouldn't say nip. It's racist.

Don elephant pants

Place large centipede or snake in bag.

Dangle bag while saying 'Y'all' a lot and looking at map.

Nip with a capital 'N' as a noun is racist, nip as a verb is not.... nigger.

Don't be dickheads .... unless you have the relevant expertise with explosives you may just end up with an "own goal". =@

I don't think they were serious. However, I once saw a video of a car in South Africa that had been modified with flame throwers on both sides to deter carjackers. The flame throwers were controlled from inside... but imagine when a 3-year-old locks himself in the car and the dad/owner is pounding on the driver's window trying to get the kid to unlock the door...

I like it but... what if they open it somewhere with inncocent people about. How about those night exploding bags with indelible ink in they use for cash? If someone can import them and rig the bags we could cathc them redhanded.
If you really want to blow them up there is always seconhand Samsung 6
A freind of mine did this kind of thing in the UK, to protect his motocycle. It was stolen, and when the thief started the bike there was an explosion. My freind got five years.
Some of the antitheft devices you can buy here tap into the management system. you can track the bike and kill the ignition, preferably when they are doing 100 and overtaking :-)

Not long ago an expat woman posted on Kampot noticeboard about having her handbag snatched while riding her bike on a quiet street late at night...for the second time.

When a couple posters tried offering sensible advice on how to avoid having this happen to her again, they were accused of being sexist victim blamers...and then of course, in true Kampot Noticeboard fashion, the posts offering sensible advice were deleted by admins.
