Police "check-points" suspended immediately

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Yeah, I saw that. Very smart!

I wonder if this is in response to the increased crime levels?

My landlady was telling me she has had tourists come into her restaurant complaining of being robbed up by the bus station.....which is where those little maggots tried to get me.

They’re at their usual hang-out, at the end of the old bridge.

Customs "check-points" have not yet been suspended in Poipet.

Taxi drivers protest ‘extortion’
15 January 2017
More than 20 taxi drivers hired to transport goods from Poipet to Sisophon city gathered yesterday to protest mobile checkpoints they say are extorting money from them.
The drivers congregated in front of the Finance Ministry’s mobile customs office branch in Banteay Meanchey province.

Roth Kamsoth, 37, one of the drivers, said they protested the fact that three mobile checkpoints were recently created in the 48 kilometres separating Poipet from Sisophon city.

He said he was required to pay mobile customs officers $10 each time he encountered them.

The checkpoints were installed following the appointment of Puth Sokha as the new head of the ministry’s mobile customs office.

Mr Kamsoth said the requirement to pay money and the time wasted at checkpoints was making it difficult for taxi drivers to do their jobs. They asked to go back to paying 600,000 riel ($150) per month for customs, as it was before the mobile checkpoints, and to reduce the number of checkpoints.

“The new head of the ministry’s mobile customs created these checkpoints, and knew taxi drivers like us could not afford it. We have to pay $10 every time we cross one, it is very difficult for us,” he said.

Men Phearum, another taxi driver, said they were only hired to transport goods, and got only up to 100,000 riel ($25) per ride. Therefore, they were not able to pay the many mobile checkpoints...

Whatever else we might disagree on, we share the same negative gut feeling. So, if you do 'fuck off" whither goest thou bubby?

trumpistan. could go to oz, but afraid i would run into trapper.
i am going to become a licensed hearing device specialist.
they average abt 60k a year in Dallas after a year. training in as little as 90 days.
unfortunately, they do not include how to apply leaches, snake oil, or laying on of hands- but the licensing legislation seem to hark back to the barber surgeon era. it has color of the medical profession, without the onerous study required to be an actual professional.
a lucrative and easily obtained professional certification furnished by the employer will suit me admirably now.
being old is a plus, because all the clients are even older.
