Chinese Man Arrested in Drug Bust on Street 136 with Large Quantity of Meth & Pills in Phnom Penh

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

That was awesome!

Chinese Triads, from Macau. Russian former Spetznaz and a failed drug festival on an island.

Money laundering casino folk, crypto-currency speculator-geeks, and slick real estate rogues.

Sounds like a novela in the making.

"The national police in crisp khaki uniforms were celebrating New Year's with the famed Maotai baijiu liquor, a gift from the Chinese embassy, when shots rang out near the new seaside casino.

A sergeant who also spoke Russian determined the shot reports came from firearms of both Chinese and Russian make, confirming the obvious - control of the drug trade on the Riviera South had begun, and the ceasefire was off.

Handguns were holstered, but the baijiu was not. These police were going to face down any threats with a red face and cheerful Khmer attitude."

Above: pure fiction, but you can't make up a lot of this craziness here.

A true penal comedy.

Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

Throw in an evil barang like Benny the Jet and you might be on to something :beer3: -

Cambodians like Benny Hill and Mr. Bean. need to work them into the script

And Jake, dont forget Jake,,, there's got to be room in a movie for a dog eating a pie, to keep all the animal lovers happy.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

About 15 years ago, local dealers were peddling blue yama pills, as well as pink, green and brown varieties, though the shape wasn't square. One of them told me the blue ones contained heroin, as well as meth. Can't confirm this, as I didn't take up their offers.

Yama pills were $1 and pot was free in Cambodia up until about about 10 years ago, someone said. Most, but not all, of the yama pills had "WY" stamped on them (the logo of the United Wa State Army of Myanmar). Lots of pictures of yama on Google images...

Yeah, someone also said the US wanted to democratise Iraq, as well.

Square pills have a bit more mass, may crumble at the corners, but line up nicely like dominoes, or mah jong pieces.

Just speculating here, Chinese version of gummy ecstasy pills, haha?

Exactly. Don't look like Viagara pills, or any other pills, up close. We'll never know.
