Weather warning for those who are heading down to Sihanoukville this weekend.

Sihanoukville province: Officials reported heavy rains in Sihanoukville this morning, which they expect to continue. No major damage has been reported so far, but the authorities remain on alert. Motorists are asked to take care on the roads.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology announced that the Tonle Sap River along National Road 4 at the point of Samrong Bridge, Kampong Seila District, Preah Sihanouk province, had reached the bridge beam base at 10:30am today, and further rain is expected. People are warned to keep an eye out for flooding on the region's roads.

Haha. Get out your rugs and winter woollies. Cold spell coming tomorrow. The weather office has announced a cold weather warning for 1-7 November.

In the northern provinces, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear and Odar Meanchey, the temperature will drop to 19-21 degrees C, and elsewhere there will be lows of 23 degrees at night. Daytime temperatures will remain from 29 to 31 all over, so it's hardly the ice age. Hell, I've seen 14 degrees and lived to tell the tale.

But, it gets cold up in the mountain provinces for sure, when you are living outside or in a drafty wooden hut. 19 degrees C is cold when you're used to 29.
For the westerners, you can save on the night time A/C.

I noticed it was a bit cooler this morning, it seemed a bit too warm the last couple of weeks so a welcome respite.

A bit cooler here in Sa Pa too: 11 degrees at the moment. And I just saw backpackers get off the bus in shorts and Beer Lao wife-beaters because, you know: "it's the Nam and it's hot out there man".

At last, it's cool this morning in Sihanoukville. Like really cool and breezy, put on a t-shirt cool.

I thought we were going to totally miss the predicted cold spell. This is great.
