The statement also said that water levels in some sections of the Mekong had increased slightly over the past week.

The ministry also urged people to be vigilant of possible gusts today and tomorrow.

Between today and March 9, it pointed out, the temperature would vary between 23 and 36 degrees Celsius for the provinces in the central lowland areas, from 23 to 36 degrees Celsius for the provinces along the Dangrek mountain range and highland areas in the northeast, and between 23 and 35 degrees Celsius in the coastal areas.

Storm Alert:
Oddar Meanchey warned to watch for stormy skies through March 16
Khouth Sophak Chakrya | Publication date 11 March 2021 | 21:51 ICT

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology called on residents in Oddar Meanchey province to be on alert for stormy weather resulting from recent hot weather that has affected the area.

In an announcement seen by The Post on March 10, the ministry said a high pressure ridge from the Pacific had covered the northeastern highlands of Cambodia, creating a low pressure system that caused intermittent rainfall which then developed into strong thunderstorms.

“From March 10 to 16, temperatures throughout Cambodia will rise to about 36-38 degrees Celsius. The hot weather will cause storms in the northwestern provinces and the Dangrek Mountains, in particular Oddar Meanchey province.”

People Advised to be Vigilant of Possible Thunder, Lightning, and Gusts
AKP Phnom Penh, April 06, 2021 --

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) has called on people to keep their vigilance of possible thunder, lightning, and gusts as there would be continued rain across the country this week.

MOWRAM explained the phenomenon by the influence of low pressure system from India and southeast wind from South China Sea, according to its new weather forecast issued this morning.

Between April 7 and 13, the source pointed out, the temperature would vary between 24 and 35 degrees Celsius for the provinces in the central lowland areas, from 24 to 36 degrees Celsius for the provinces next to the Dangrek mountain range and highland areas in the northeast, and between 24 and 34 degrees Celsius in the coastal areas.
