A bit chilly in the high country this week, which is normal for the season, but some travelers may get caught out by the fresh nights in the mountains.
Cambodia Weather Running Between 17 and 33 Degree Celsius Rest of This Week
AKP Phnom Penh, January 15, 2020 --
Cambodia’s weather will drop between the minimum of 17 and the maximum 33 degrees Celsius from today until late this week.
The forecast was shared yesterday by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, highlighting that the condition is caused by on-going decline of the high pressure along with the monsoon impacts.
Of the three main classified zones, continued the source, the highland areas of Dangrek and the northeastern mountain ranges comprising of Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri and Pailin provinces will fall between 17 and 32 degrees Celsius.
The central lowland and coastal regions will experience weather condition between 20 and 32 degrees Celsius, and 23 and 33 degrees Celsius respectively.
Cambodia is still undergoing the cool and dry period normally taking place from December to late February.

Thunderstorms and extreme temperatures expected
The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has called on residents, especially in six northwestern provinces to be cautious of thunderstorms. Reports indicate in the last two months this year, one person has been killed and more than 60 houses have been damaged.
They notified the weather conditions yesterday showed low pressure on the ground and high pressure at great altitudes. This situation will cause days to be extremely hot with lowland areas experiencing minimum temperatures of 26 to 27 degrees and maximum temperatures of 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.
Provinces in the northeastern highlands and coastal areas will have a minimum temperature of 26 to 28 degrees and a maximum of 34 to 37 degrees Celsius.
Some parts in the six provinces, including Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, Pailin, Battambang, and Preah Vihear provinces, will have low to moderate levels of rainfall mixed with thunderstorms.
“Please take care of your health during these extreme hot weather conditions. Continue to be cautious of thunderstorms, especially in the northwestern provinces from today to March 21,” the ministry added.
Chan Youttha, Water Resource Ministry spokesman, said yesterday during this month, there will be occasional rains continuously with some thunderstorms, especially in the northwest, coastal areas and northern highlands.
