Trains are bigger than trucks

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Trains are bigger than trucks

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

This may not be news to you, but some truck drivers are still putting this to the test.
The latest incident occurred on December 7, 2017, near Wat Xenam, south of Prey Kak commune, Kea Kak I commune, Por Sen Chey district, when a truck drove through a level crossing barrier and connected with the on-coming train. Fortunately the truck driver emerged unscathed from his game of chicken with the train driver and lives to try again another day.

Probably had no brakes, like all the other trucks here.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Trucker picks worst possible place to stall
Police in Phnom Penh’s Por Sen Chey district got all the dirt on a gravel truck driver whose rig was rammed by a train yesterday.

The 36-year-old transporter claimed he got stuck on the tracks and was unable to move, leading to the lorry-on-locomotive collision.

Luckily, however, no one was injured, and after the crash, the truck was towed away to the police station and the train carried on to its destination.

Considering how very few trains run here, the amount of train accidents is astronomical.
