the blue metal is a good tell tale.
all that land has had proper drainage, sewage,
water and electricity laid on as a condition of development.
many factory workers have bought modest dwellings out there on low interest near nothing down developer/owner/vendor finance.
many have built little GH for factory worker rentals and are getting quite healthy margins on their investments.
Not sure what you mean by proper drainage. Yes they did put big new pipes in along side the road,,,,, but where does it all go to ? The countryside is so flat the pipes just act as a holding tank.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Well lets hope all the surface water is drained away! Because of the place being named has the 2nd macau. I would be looking forward to this being put on the tourist agenda......................
Would possibly be huge for a Cambodian tourist sport event

Always "hope" but never "expect".

They have just started to put up fencing along the beach yesterday, or putting the posts in for fencing off on the 1st Jan in front matines, they say 2 months be finished but double the rent but I have my doubts, they get them out then see what happens
The plan is just about the whole block, from the pier right past matines and also the restos on the next St back too but will have to see

Re: predictions on future of sihanoukville and cambodia in general
Not surprising to see that one quarter of foreign tourists visiting Sihanoukville last year were from mainland China.
Sihanoukville’s hotel sector to see 1,000 new rooms in 2018
20 February 2018
With the number of visitors to the province markedly on the rise, 1,000 new hotel and guesthouse rooms will be built this year in Sihanoukville to meet rising demand for accommodation.
Taing Sochetkrisna, director of Sihanoukville’s tourism department, said the province current 10,000 hotel and guesthouse rooms are insufficient to host the rising number of visitors, particularly during weekends and festivals.
The situation is exacerbated by the fact that Chinese businesses have been leasing entire hotels to run casino operations, he explained.
“To meet demand, investors have been investing in budget, mid-range and luxury hotels in 20 different locations. “By the end of the year, we expect 10 new hotels and 1,000 new rooms.
“Besides these new hotels, the construction of a number of 5-star hotels may finish this year or the next, with each hotel having 500 to 600 rooms,” he added.
In 2017, Sihanoukville received one million local tourists and 470,000 foreign visitors. 120,000 of those visitors came from China.

Re: predictions on future of sihanoukville and cambodia in general
are there any tourists yet?
or still just workers?
there are a few very shy and genteel mainland Chinese starting to appear on the streets of Kampot as independent travelers.
gracious and circumspect with a little English.
i for one do not hate Chinese people by any means.
the velocity of development in SV has alarmed a lot of people- not least Khmer residents, though it is not a new thing.
numerous ppl, including me have been booted from their leases due to increased real estate trading.
it is kind of shit after you spend the money getting settled to be booted out.
esp if you set up a commercial kitchen or GH. that is not cheap.
i guess that is why the member asking for biz partners was trolled so ruthlessly.
please remember we were all noobs once- and the rate of change here, along with economic growth is not something you find in many other places.

There definitely needs to be some sort of rent regulation to protect Khmers and small foreigner businesses.I do not thibk the government realizes that barang small business trains khmer who then start their own business, so its not all good having megabuck investments from countries that bring their own staff with them and throw everyone out.frank lee bent wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 7:00 pm are there any tourists yet?

Too be fair the guy looking for a business partner was not in a receptive mood to anyone trying to inform him of these problems. Many people were trying to warn him and his response was to hurl insults and insist he knew better. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.

I have seen a number of middle class looking couples and families of the Chinoise persuasion knocking around Chinookville, looking like the kind of tourist you would expect. I think this may actually be viable without the criminality.frank lee bent wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 7:00 pm are there any tourists yet?
