Flights from Sihanoukville

Post by rogerrabbit »

Many people here live in Sihanoukville so this might interest many. Lanmei Airlines starts direct flight to Hong Kong on December 20th. The connection is only for high season as the flights will end March 2018. 3 weekly flights Monday, Wednesday and Sunday.

Next month launching Cambodia Airways has pretty good deals for SHK-PP route. Depending on dates, $25-$50 one way with all taxes etc fees.

The supreme irony: they get cheap flights just as the town becomes so fucked up that most of us don't want to go anymore.

Maybe most who have seen/been there in the "old good times", but I'm sure tourist arrivals in Sihanoukville will go up in next few years. And I'm not talking about just chinese, but westeners as well. It's been very limited group of people have been interested visiting there before due to lack of truly quality hotels, flight connections, entertainment and shopping possibilities.

Here's the link to the cambodia airways promotion

Well there are couple plans for waterpark, one or two plans for amusement parks. There are plans for big grocery store (Makro), couple smaller malls will be completed within next 12 months and those brings international and cambodian chains, there is rumour of a bigger mall. Those are pretty important for families for example. There is plan for high end marina with promenade and high class restaurants. There are multiple real 4-5 star hotels coming up. All those are very important if you want "samsonite" tourists and families and not just cheap charlies who drinks 50 cents beers in girly bars and backpackers.

And of course airport upgrade with more flights coming in from different destinations every month.

So where are Khmer families going to go for their seaside holidays now that SNK is beyond many of their budgets?

Once few first buildings start to get ready, rents and hotel rates will drop. Thats probably next low season.

Young cambodians, like other asians, prefer modern lifestyle with malls etc. instead of quiet rural villages. But of course some people will go on holidays other places. Thats natural. New places will emerge that are what old sihanoukville was.
