Barangs (Including German Expat ACHIM ECKERT) in Fatal Motorbike Accident Near Independence Monument in Phnom Penh
Re: Barangs Involved in Fatal Accident Near Independence Monument in Phnom Penh
Why did you say lady, it looks like a man in the video and the news item describes the person as a Cambodian Gymnast.

Google translate
A shocking accident occurred on Sihanouk Boulevard near Independence Monument where two foreigners drove motorbikes to the brink of collision with a three-person Cambodian gymnast, killing at the scene.
Maybe someone can give a better translation.

To be honest if she was wearing a helmet, she might have. Why she would be wearing a helmet while walking is another story.....angkorjohn wrote:You seem to forget here Kiwi that a third person wasn't wearing a helmet. On topic, this is awful for the families however as the cat said, not one helmet is sight. If they were wearing helmets, they just might of survived this accident.
Either way, horrible accident for ALL involved.

The Khmer language report says the Khmer man was exercising in the road, presumably crossing the road.

It's a valid point, but we've never tried to "hide" the Darknet News forum, it's just a place where nobody can complain about accidentally seeing something they didn't want to, as it has requirements to get access, AND anyone with access needs to ask to get in.kiwiincambodia wrote:
Off topic but, this is how ers know about our darknet section and why they request access. IMHO this should not be allowed. Darknet it for registered users only and there is no need to link the threads together. It just draws curiosity from ers.
It's been a flawless system, except once, when a story we had went viral internationally.
Don't fix what ain't broken.
[And you've reminded me that I need to delete the links on here and put them in the Darknet...]

Whilst I feel sad for any death and the sadness this may cause loved ones, I have little sympathy for two thrill seekers without helmets driving their high powered bike in the early hours of the morning at high speed especially if as it seems the reason they crashed was because they hit and killed another person. In my book driving like that is a dangerous accident waiting to happen. going out for your morning stroll ain't.kiwiincambodia wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 11:42 amTo be honest if she was wearing a helmet, she might have. Well, I trust accounts of accidents in the media here not at all.
And there appears to be a car involved also that is not mentioned.
Also the reported lady appears to be male.
I wouldn't say speed was an enormous factor as the damage to car and bike is light to moderate.
Don't know any of them, I think, but R.I.P to all friends and families of the three deceased.
