Cambodian opposition party dissolved by Supreme Court, as HE clears path to 2018 election

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I think when the US decides that Israel et al are being naughty and do something about it, then they can start whining. In addition, what about the list of dictators they have either installed or supported? Hypocrisy. If you are going to claim the moral high ground, at least be consistent.

Azerbaijan
Cameroon
Central America
Chad
Chile
Cuba
Djibouti
Iraq
Iran
Kazkhstan
Philippines
Qatar
Saudi Arabia
South Africa (apartheid era)
Turkey
Uzbekistan
Yemen

And then there's the small issue of starting wars to steal resources, manipulating economies. Damn, Russia has a better record!

I'm quite aware of the methods, but I think the anger is tangible and at some point it will explode. Oppression was much worse in Libya and yet the people still rose. The argument that the horrors of the KR are still fresh in the minds of the youth is hollow at best - it is the young, not the old that generally lead change. Most young people I know in Cambodia want change and I wonder when they will fight for it?

Change? To what? It's not like one can really admire/ respect too many governments in the world. Who can argue with the CPPs line? Not me.

On what do you base that claim? BBC? CNN?

I suggest you do some investigation before you accept MSM's view.

everyone i know is quite satisfied with the status quo
but i don't know any freshies in PP
only peasants and workers

how many outraged citizens registered to vote? less than 30% i think.
this complacency breeds no revolution.
people have it better year on year for a decade.
they like that.
young doodz hate cnrp coz they say they will be conscripted to fight the youn.
so they tell me.

A friend of mine worked for Gaddafi and has nothing but praise for him, his family and his former government.

My friend is also presumably sane and quite a genuine guy although, from time to time gets a little too preachy with his commie ways.

MSM did label him a terrorist but I'm not so sure
