Cambodian opposition party dissolved by Supreme Court, as HE clears path to 2018 election

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

"I wonder at which point the people revolt? "
wont happen in Cambodia......ever
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

They have to at some point - the only Cambodians I know that 'like' the government are those paid by them and the civil service and institutions aren't that big. I thought the people were going to follow through after the elections in 2013, but they had no fight in them. When is it going to happen???

The communist country's are footing the bill. The big people are only on the agenda and will get richer. Whom cares about the poor.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Question ,,, If one had a enemy, would n't you prefer to see them all in the same uniform so you knew who they are and where they are .

Second question .,,,, Would you like to see your enemy dressed up in your uniform waving your flag and standing behind you knowing that all the time they are gathering information and waiting for just the right time.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

They were close in 2013 when lots of people were disenfranchised and even then the current party only just scraped it (anecdotally, my sister in law went to cast her vote only to find her name had already been struck off the list as, unbeknown to her, she had already voted). Suppression only takes you so far for so long.

It is not the place of foreigners to make changes to a host country it is the role of the people of that country. All constituents used to have representatives in government but only some would turn up for work. I believe that if you have an elected role then you must represent those who placed their vote and trust in you. To be not prepared to stand up (and yes you can be knocked down) for your beliefs and either not turn up to work or run away how can you expect the people or international entities to do it for you?
Lead and others follow. Stand still and everyone lines up behind you.

Nothing will happen the people wont revolt. HE is too entrenched with all his troops and money. The people aren't willing to rock the boat, things are going well enough economically, not perfectly but good enough. Even if they wanted to revolt how would they? They have no way to do it.

Cambodia is surrounded by genuine communist or military dictatorships, but they don't receive the same flak from the Western media, due to their cozier ties with the US.

The pain & fear from an bad era has not vanished & is still very strong, also as soon as any group gathers they are literally smashed to bits by the 'special police'...thats why you're not seeing a revolution, i see elsewhere you claim to have spent 12yrs in PP? yet you seem oblivious to the methods of the ruling party to keep people under control?
