You're right hanno, my bad.

Honestly it's embarrassing how the shoddy quality and 'cutting corners' mindset pervades civil architecture in the US. It's insidious.

There's not a week that goes by that I don't see a news item on a civil or commercial infrastructure or architectural failure.

We could really learn a thing or two from China on this one.

I hope, with a thawing of tensions, a Country wide architectural symposium could be mandated and a delegation sent to mainland China so that our civil engineers and architects could hopefully glean best practices from the PRC.

As a kid, every Thanksgiving Day, our local TV station would play an all day TZ marathon and I'd watch the whole thing, transfixed whilst family and friends got sloshed on eggnog.

I recently picked a new GP. After two visits and exhaustive Lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age (I've just reached 80).
A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 90?'
He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer, wine or hard liquor?
'Oh not much grog these days and don't smoke' I replied. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!'
Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks, fatty roasts and barbecued Ribs?
'I said, 'Not much; my former doctor said that red meat is unhealthy!'
'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, boating, fishing, sailing, surfing, hiking, or bicycling?'
'No, I don't,' I said.
He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lots of sex?'
'No,' I said.
He looked at me and said,.. "Then, why the f**k do you want to live to 90?"
