Re: British & Canadian Tourists NATALIE JADE SEYMOUR & ABBEY GAIL AMISOLA Die From Drug Overdose in Kampot, Cambodia
This UK tabloid article (below) is sensationalist and inaccurate, but there are some details of events that did not surface at the time the deaths were reported.
The deceased was staying at the Monkey Republic hostel in Kampot and (according to this article) was reportedly taken to see a doctor in a tuktuk who refused to treat her. One of the best hospitals in the region was 20 minutes away at most (Sonja Kill Hospital, Kampot), but it is reported that the British woman was in a village 2 hours from the nearest proper medical unit.
She dreamed of adventure and marriage but died taking over-the-counter drugs on dream trip

EXCLUSIVE Wendy Bowler is left searching for answers after daughter Natalie Seymour died after buying unknown over-the-counter medication when she fell ill on a dream trip to Cambodia
Natalie Jade Seymour, 22, dreamed of adventure and marrying her boyfriend, but instead perished on what was meant to be the trip of a lifetime.
Bedfordshire mum Wendy Bowler has been left reeling once again after an inquest provided few clear answers about daughter Natalie Seymour's tragic death two years ago.
Natalie was found dead along with her Canadian travelling companion in their hostel in Cambodia, just hours after they fell ill.
A coroner this week recorded an open verdict into the young British backpacker's death in the country in November 2017, after hearing the girls had bought unknown over-the-counter medication.

Many things don't add up, and the coroner's inquest in the UK had no answers.Wendy [the mother] still feels guilt that she didn’t tell her daughter to go to a hospital, even though the inquest emphasised that there was no local hospital in the village, and the closest one was two hours away.

The correct version, all respect intended, would be to say - the ladies died DESPITE taking over the counter medication.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 2:06 am This UK tabloid article (below) is sensationalist and inaccurate, but there are some details of events that did not surface at the time the deaths were reported.

I could be wrong, but the ladies were ill before looking up the pills online and before buying.
In addition I would say - if the pills were a bad batch it would have surfaced long before now and the pharmacist in jail.
There are no other reported deaths from that brand of tablet or from that pharmacy.

Maybe our little CEO collective could tender for the police autopsy contracts.
chuckle
We obvious qualify. We could make a fortune and CEO's ratings would skyrocket..

"Dr Rajiv Swamy, who carried out the post-mortem examination,
... said a condition called "idiopathic hepatotoxic micro vesicular steatosis" was the cause of death."
remember that first word - we gonna be using it a lot.

It should be added to Mish's list above. It is probably more correct than "heart attack" in many cases here.
Sad.

Skimmed the thread. Even if they did consume narcotics there is no need to take the ‘serves em right’ attitude. They were young

You will notice most of the offensive posts come from posters with very few posts. An "event" such as this one was brings the trolls out of the woodwork for a week or so and they are banned or move on to slagging the dead at the next sensational "event". There are a lot of ghouls in the world. I noted that when the young ladies body was found this week, new posters were clambering to be accepted to the darknet in hopes of seeing pictures of her body. They chose not to apply by PM but publicly requested their admission. The forum also had a poster that joined simply to disseminate photos of dead bodies. She was banned after a week or so. Some people find pleasure in others pain, sad but very true.Smoking Joe Conrad wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 6:37 am Skimmed the thread. Some posters make very inappropriate comments in an apparent belief in their own comedic genius.
