When I slowed down the video it looks to me like they grabbed something off the front of her belt. Maybe a purse or such. It would be a easy grab since her hand is tied up carrying the bag.

Yeah, but it only takes one incident and all of the sudden you find yourself 1000s of miles from home without a passport and (more often than not) an embassy that doesn't give a damn about you so you're basically screwed. I mean, seriously, if you were, say, in the UK and all of the sudden you get a call from a cousin or sibling you haven't been in close contact with for quite some time and they as for a few thousand pounds to get home, what would you do? We expats need to help each other out just so long as the story is legit. That's my opinion, anyway. I've been here for only a month but after 20+ years in Thailand, I think I've got the instincts to know what safe is. I don't consider Cambodia safe, really, although it does appear that stupidity and/or carelessness does cause a lot of these thefts.

Visit Johannesburg for a week.
Before you go, send your next-of-kin a copy of your will.

The only time I've ever been robbed was about 20yrs ago in Lima and that was by the police! I left a club in the early hours, pretty wasted, and 2 policemen came up to me and said they were gonna search me for drugs, i thought ok as i didn't have any on me. Then one of the fuckers pulled a bag of weed out of his pocket and said if i don't give him my money, about $60 worth of soles, he would arrest me for possession! I didn't want them to go search my room because i had some marching powder there and i wasn't keen on the idea of a Peruvian prison. Then the bam gave me about $5 back and told me to get a taxi, because i was in a dangerous area!!.Ronny wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2017 9:07 amYeah, but it only takes one incident and all of the sudden you find yourself 1000s of miles from home without a passport and (more often than not) an embassy that doesn't give a damn about you so you're basically screwed. Oh and when i was a teenager (1980s) i once had some "wee ned" try to rob me with a knife in Greenock, Scotland but i was a bit if a psycho back then and he was really out of it so i just kicked the shit out him. I've never seen more extreme violence than growing up in Scotland.

Definitely. Don't have to worry about getting shot here, unless im at a KTV or Beer Garden where its most likely to be a cop or soldier. Although from what I hear, the 90s/early 2000s were pretty bad.

That much attention from a roving cur might have given me pause to consider what manner of ingredients the pizza actually contained.Cruisemonkey wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2017 4:10 pm In Otres Village, a dog came up behind me and tried to snatch the bag I carrying containing my 'take away' pizza.
