Sudden Fire in Phnom Penh Computer Shop Kills 4
A fire broke out at a computer shop in Village 19 Road 70, Toul Sangke District, Phnom Penh on the evening of Oct 16 at 11.30pm leaving 4 persons dead. The deceased were 4 men, one shop owner and his 3 employees.
According to neighbours, they saw the "STC" computer shop churning out black smoke and moments later, flames, to which they called the fire brigade for help. The fire brigade responded by sending in 12 fire trucks and began working on extinguishing the fire using 20 trucks of water (approx 80m3). They only managed to bring the fire under control 2 hours later at 12.30am, Oct 17.
The fire brigade suspects that the reason for the fire was a short circuit in the building which brought about the fierce fire killing 4 persons along with all computer stocks and daily electronic goods in its path.
The mayor of Phnom Penh congratulated the fire brigade for their speedy work in extinguishing the fire and preventing its spread to other buildings. The remains of the deceased have been sent to an undisclosed hospital mortuary for burial preparations.
