The Voice Cambodia star San Sreylai shot dead in murder-suicide
Mon, 16 October 2017
A former finalist on The Voice Cambodia was shot dead by her estranged husband at a beauty clinic in an upscale neighbourhood of Phnom Penh yesterday, shortly before the man turned the gun on himself.
[But] a police official who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that 23-year-old San Sreylai, a finalist last year on the second season of the popular singing competition, was shot by her estranged husband – 53-year-old customs official Chey Rin – around 4pm yesterday at the Vita Longa Clinic on Street 360 near Boeung Keng Kang market.
Security camera footage circulating on social media shows Sreylai talking to Rin in the entryway of the clinic and turning away before he shoots her several times, then shoots himself in the head.
A security guard across the street who gave only his first name, Reach, said he heard three to four gunshots and ran outside to find the couple’s bodies in the entryway of the clinic.
Family and friends spoke of a tumultuous relationship in which Rin was often an aggressor. Sreylai’s sister, San Kongkea, said in an interview with a local television station that her sister asked Rin for a divorce years ago but that he had refused. According to Kongkea, the couple has two young sons. “They separated when she entered The Voice Cambodia – the relationship become worse and worse because he is a jealous guy,” Kongkea told TVFB...

I believe the term is (terrorist) not muslim terrorist, what an offence and hatred. Stop offending whole religion over some radical individuals. Go ahead and blame the Christians armies (U.S) armies for going to Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and killing 100s of people each day since we blaming religion groups here or the poor rohinga muslim people whos being killed, and burned for no real reason oh wait! who cares about them they not important. Such bulshit in this world damn it. Muslims are suffering enough, I certainly have had it with such comments with people like uwillyhilly wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2017 10:59 am Well that was a nose job wasted. Nearly 40 women killed in Australia this year in domestic violence situations. It's not the Moslem terrorists women have to worry about. Our societies are just fucked up.

Whoa! That's a seriously high number in one year. Then I checked Canada: one dies every 6 days at "the hands of her intimate partner." That's more than 60 in 2014. Shocking stats.willyhilly wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2017 10:59 am Well that was a nose job wasted. Nearly 40 women killed in Australia this year in domestic violence situations. I believe some cop investigating the story lifted her bra to see the bullet-hole and took pictures of her chest and then shared them on Facebook. And people are worried about Kingsman, ffs.
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right?

Some extra information from a family member of the perpetrator (my wife’s brother in laws is his cousin). He knew him well and the victim was Rins 2nd wife. Her age being reported is false. Her sons are 8 and 6 so we think she’s more likely 26. She met Rin when he was working for the ministry but in a department that meant he had lots of *extra* income. He was pretty well off with nice cars and plenty of money. Now apparently he was moved to a different department where his bonus money dried up. Shortly after his marriage hits the rocks.
The wife’s brother in law moved the body to his home town for the funeral. Also he had been telling her he was going to kill himself and her for some time but as is Cambodia nothing was acted on.
His first wife has 4 grown up children who are all working.
I will ask later if there’s more to add and double check the facts.

In the USA being killed by your intimate partner is much less likely to happen than sitting on your arse all day eating and doing Feck all https://www.wvdhhr.org/bph/oehp/obesity/mortality.htm. (60 v 300,000)willyhilly wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2017 10:59 am Well that was a nose job wasted. Nearly 40 women killed in Australia this year in domestic violence situations. Just noticed you said Australia not the US but I can’t be bothered to look up the figures for Oz though I would wager they’re similar.
