Find the name of my village...
I'm trying to work out my village name for an online registration for a government portal.
I've got the whole Province > District > Commune > Village thing sorted for addresses in Cambodia, and I know what my own address is down to the commune level.
I'm in Boeng Tompun so for me it's Cambodia > Phnum Penh > Mean Chey > Boeng Tompun ... but then my villlage can be one of many, including Sansam Kosal 1 to 5.
There is limited information online for communes, but I can't find a single resource that defines village names.
Can anyone help, please? No, it's not on my lease document...

Have you tried asking your neighbors, local motodops/tuktuks, market vendors, etc?
Or alternatively, locate your place on Google maps, or Maps.me, and zoom in...usually has village names and is fairly accurate.

Re: Find the name of my village...
I've asked a couple of local people, they look at me blankly and agree "Sansom Kosal, yes, Sansom Kosal" and sadly Google Maps doesn't help. If it comes down to it I'll ask at the sangkat office.

Try this one, it's what I have on my lease. Kbal Tumnob

Doesn't mean it's right though.

Thanks UT - I wondered about asking you directly if you knew. The online portal has a dozen or more villages in Mean Chey that aren't listed on Wikipedia, I can post a screengrab if you're interested.Username Taken wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 5:49 pm Try this one, it's what I have on my lease. Actually for the driver's license I found a "null" entry in the village options which the system accepted, so that will do me for now, however the work permit portal isn't so forgiving. I'll use Kbal Tumnob and claim ignorance if it ever becomes an issue, or simply cite UT on CEO as a reference! I'm sure they won't call, but what's your number again ... ?

Kbal Tumnob means your in Boeung Tompun 2, the south end of BT, Sts 87/69ish, bordering 371?
Its a shame it doesn't have maps to go along with it, but this is the definitive resource for place names:

Street 22BT - not sure where that places us. A great shame there don't seem to be any definitive resources on this.epidemiks wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 11:24 pm Kbal Tumnob means your in Boeung Tompun 2, the south end of BT, Sts 87/69ish, bordering 371?

Look at your water or electricity bill. Ask neighbours. If they don't to now warbler or electricity bill doesn't have same info just go random. I write random addresses here all the time.

Minh Thy Construction Material, which appears to be on 22BT, has their address asStroppyChops wrote:Street 22BT - not sure where that places us. Re: Find the name of my village...
Looks like you're in neither of these two.
Phum Kbal Tumnob
Phum Samsom Kosal
As epidemiks says, you're probably in Phum Thnaot Chrum (but I can't get Google maps to show the boundaries for that one).
