They spent approximately $ 2 282 up to $3 800 for three months and suddenly the school was closed without any information.
The locals have reported to the police to seek justice.
According to the authority of Khan Sensok, Stamford International English School was closed entirely in Phnom Penh as its head principle announced bankruptcy.

The fees quoted seem highly suspect, as they would place it in the upper echelon of private schools, which is definitely not the case. The Khmer Times article on the closure quotes a mother saying she paid $300 pa to send her kid there. In an article in TOF, fees of $500-2000 per 1/2 or full year are mentioned and they had already been collected in advance. The latter figures seem most likely.
Such closures were happening regularly when I came here in 2004 and many of the schools were Western owned. A teaching colleague told me of a school that closed owing him and other staff 4 months salary. The owners contacted him later to say they had opened a new branch in Sihanoukville. Though they couldn't pay him the money owed, they offered him a job at the new school. Fairly common occurrence in those days.

just had a look at the khmer news article and it says the student fees were $500-2000 for 1/2 or full year depending on the age of the kids and whether they were studying Khmer and English

PHNOM PENH -

Unfortunately, it looks like the director of the Steung Meanchey branch of the Filipino owned Stamford International School , 35 yo Ly Sokhomal, may have absconded with a large sum of money, leaving teachers and staff unpaid and out of pocket.

Image
More than 50 parents of pupils have filed a lawsuit at the Stung Meanchey district police station in Meanchey District, demanding that the police investigate the case of Stamford International School, which closed their doors for no apparent reason, just after the parents had paid $ 500 to $ 2,000 for their children's school fees.

Stamford has three locations: 1 in Meanchey Village, Steung Meanchey District, 2: Near Samrong Andet Wat and 3rd: On Mong Reththy High School. It has been opened for more than 6 years, had a good reputation, and has never had a problem. All three branches of the school have been closed.

Jeez Jamie your proficiency in Khmer has grown over the years.

If memory serves, I think Vladimir used to work at that branch.

From a distance, the flags of Indonesia and Monaco look similar but the proportions are slightly difference.

Turn either upside down and one might imagine that one is seeing the flag of Poland.

Students of shut school promised alternatives
13 October 2017
The Cambodia Higher Education Association yesterday assured parents of Stamford International Academy students that their children can continue studies at another private school, after the academy closed without notice on Tuesday.

According to the CHEA, it has 91 members that are private sector schools. After discussing the unexpected closure of Stamford, whose principal has disappeared, CHEA announced that students can be placed in another member school near their homes to continue their studies uninterrupted and without further payment.

Stung Meanchey commune police chief Moa Savoeun said police were still looking for the principal, Ly Sokolmol.
“We are looking to arrest the school principal,” he said. “We have no doubt that he owes parents some money. The parents paid the fees and he disappeared.”
