why would you take a tefl course if have no intention to teach?
BTW Just cause u have a tefl degree does not mean you can teach. its not as easy as many think ( at least if its with the best interest of the student in mind)
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

How long was the course, and what was the cost?
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Course was 3 months teaching after the "120" hour online course. Cost was $1200 which also covered accommodation and 1 meal/day. Note on the cost I believe it is regularly $1600 iirc

I am well aware of the limitations of a tefl course, this course is a good introduction imo to teaching esl as it is short enough most don't quit and long enough to know "if" it is a career you want to pursue. And clearly by your use of capital letters and grammar it wasn't that easy for you.

@OP. Have you ever been to Cambodia before ? It's very much a love it or hate it country for most expats. It may be different to what you are expecting, and it's nothing like Thailand or Vietnam.
Not trying to knock your plan, but if you are coming to Cambodia from the US for the first time, be prepared for some culture shock.

That sounds very reasonable. Whom were the teachers?
The guy I know here who attended his TEFL was just accruing more qualifications. He is an advisor in the agriculture section.

I have never been to Cambodia before no. Of course it will be different than the US. Im expecting it: the good as well as the bad. I am not thinking on the ideas of a permanent move but at least try for 6 months to a year. Im not getting any younger and I just feel where Ive been now for the past 15 years there is no more room for job growth of any kind here(Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania). Ive been working in the casino industry for over 5 years now slinging cards mostly on the "Asian" Games of Bacarrat and Pai Gow Poker. While I could get a job almost anywhere with this type of experience, I really would like to try a job that has a more positive side to it such as teaching. Since I have no formal degree my options will be limited of course. I would def be taking the 4 week TEFL course with the practicum at the end.. Trying to just lie away credentials is wrong in my opinion and does no one good. I do not gamble at all and seeing on a daily basis some of our regulars have major issues with their addictions doesn't make for a good working environment regardless of how good the pay is. Im just thinking about doing something spontaneous for a change Live a little on the wild side. And try something totally new

There was/is 17 different interns with a varying degree of qualification from all around the world. Surprisingly the average age of us would be early thirties, some are here as a type of working vacation, some like myself are here for a type of career change and using it as kind of a way to get in sync with the country. The schools we are teaching at are definitely not top end and at most of them we are the only native speakers. The school I am at is quite a ways out from anywhere touristy or English spoken so it's been quite the experience.
