A fully-veiled lady, Saudi-style, in Siem Reap
A sign of things to come?
Today a roadside peddler of dried fish in the street in front of Kralanh Market was fully veiled in the approved Riyadh / Gassim manner,
with only her eye-slit unveiled; an uncommon sight in these parts and one not adopted by the other Muslim female vendors.
Last week a Rolls-Royce was spotted on the road beside the river - a Rolls, moreover, built before Darth Vader started designing the
front ends of Rolls-Royces and making them look utterly hideous. Then a brace of Sikhs on a scooter.

Plenty fully vailed Muslim ladies here in koh kong. Didn't see much of this four years ago.boozyoldman wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2017 12:53 pm A sign of things to come?

What does a RR on the Riverside and a brace of Sikhs have to do with Muslims or anything for that matter?
What about all the angry pisshead barangs all over SE Asia?

I think he is insinuating that Siem Reap is about to be overrun with Muslim food sellers, Sikhs and Rolls Royces.bangkokhooker wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2017 1:09 pm What does a RR on the Riverside and a brace of Sikhs have to do with Muslims or anything for that matter?

Loads of Rolls Royces in the capital, they have a dealership here.About the woman's dress, it's a sign of the coming Caliphate when every woman in the world will have to wear one .
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Actually I wouldn’t be worrying too much about the threat of islamisation in Chinese controlled countries. Only recently China has initiatated a huge crack down in the Xinjiang region where they have been confiscating Qurans, claiming the seminal Islamic text contains “extremist content”, and prayer mats.
Additionally, the Chinese government has severely restricted the practice of Islam throughout the state—from banning Muslim names like Muhammad” and “Arafat” to forcing shops to sell haram items such as cigarettes and alcohol—and promoted “ethnic unity” campaigns meant to dilute Uighur identity by promoting intermarriage and imposing Mandarin over the Uighur language.

Ain't nobody doing no complain' 'bout nothin'!
The full veil was almost never to be seen Istanbul a decade ago, then it spread like floodwater.
Somewhere or other on the 'net there are contrasting photos of a group of female students at Cairo University in
the Nasserist 50s/60s and - a sad regression - their equivalents at the present time.
The news from Western China (''East Turkestan'' to some) sounds like brutal overkill and likely to alienate many
who are apolitical.
