Trump and the ethnc-Cambodian deportees
Some of these hapless souls were born in the post-1979 camps in Thailand but have no real legal status anywhere

Send them back to Thailand where they were born.

That's not true, Cambodians born in the Thai camps have always been eligible for Cambodian citizenship. The fact that the camps were used to resupply the Khmer Rouge and the Royalists/ Nationalists was not lost on the ruling government so there has often been a distrust of these people since. Those who were accepted as refugees in France/USA/Australia etc were often from among those factions and are trusted even less. Many of the Cambodian diaspora support dubious political groups while generally being profoundly ignorant about conditions on the ground here. If they come back with some expertise and/or capital they are accepted, when they come back with nothing but tattoos and street talk not so much. These fuckers might have Cambodian blood but they have a foreign mentality and will never fit in here.boozyoldman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2017 11:07 pm Some of these hapless souls were born in the post-1979 camps in Thailand but have no real legal status anywhere

Is it true that 48 of these people are now in prison here?

Yes, it's true that anyone with Cambodian parents can easily get Khmer citizenship, no matter where they were born.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2017 12:00 amThat's not true, Cambodians born in the Thai camps have always been eligible for Cambodian citizenship. However, I dislike your labeling this group as "fuckers". At the end of the day, they're just people like the rest of us, made mistakes like the rest of us, and done good things like the rest of us. They are a more dynamic group than you might suspect, and they have more to bring to the table than just tattoos and street talk.

Yeah, maybe that was a bit uncalled for. I've known some that have been alright, but they were all previously involved in heavy shit - like shootings, armed-robberies etc. Those are more than just "mistakes", and I can't help being a bit wary of them.

You have to have crawled out of a Cambodian hoo-hah to be Cambodian, don't think having a Cambodian dad counts.siliconlife wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 11:33 pm
