New Sky Bridge planned for Phnom Penh.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

New Sky Bridge to be Constructed
Published: 08/09/2017
Phnom Penh (FN), September 8 – Phnom Penh Capital Hall (PPCH) planned to build another Sky Bridge at the intersection of the 60-meter highway with Monivong Boulevard and Street 271 bordering Khan Mean Chey and Khan Chamkar Mon, according to (PPCH)’s spokesman, Met Measpheakdey.

"There will be a bridge on Monivong Boulevard to Norodom Boulevard,” said PPCH’s spokesman.

"We have already studied this project, but is still waiting for the government's decision. After the Royal Government makes the decision, the PPCH will start operating,” he stated.

He added that this new road will help prevent traffic jams.

Hopefully it will work to some extent. That intersection is a mess at the moment, with the new pumping station mid-construction, traffic coming from the new HS Boulevard joining 271 at a crazy angle and mingling with traffic coming from Monivong and that messed up overpass/junction at the Monivong Bridge that they are building a couple of new spurs into. Basically just avoid driving anywhere near there if you can help it for the next few years. It will be great once it's done, drive down Monivong, over the skybridge straight onto the new 60m wide 7km highway through the wetlands, onwards to Ta Khmao in no time.

Had they built that first overpass properly it wouldn't be nearly as bad as it currently is. As they were building it, I remember commenting on K440 how retarded it was. Coming from 271/Monivong, you need to go south on Norodom then do a u turn if you want to go north. Completely stupid beyond belief. Then again, I think it was a chinese project back in the early days when no one seemed to think the traffic would get that bad...

That's not quite true, what you are supposed to do is drive from Monivong Boulevard/ 271 across the new Monivong bridge to Chbaa Ampul, then there's a mini roundabout so you go around that and then go back across the old Monivong bridge and take a right onto Norodom. :?
