Sihanoukville facing a trash crisis- Cintri suspending services

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Good news for Sihanoukville residents.

January 17, 2019
Sihanoukville gets more garbage trucks and collectors
Preah Sihanouk provincial authorities have distributed 30 garbage trucks and deployed 171 garbage collectors in four communes to improve the collection, cleaning and transportation of garbage in Sihanoukville.

Sihanoukville Governor Y Sokleng said on Tuesday that six trucks and 42 workers were sent to Lek Muoy commune, four trucks and 32 workers to Lek Pi commune, eight trucks and 32 workers to Lek Bey commune and 12 trucks and 65 workers to Lek Buon commune.

“The distribution of the trucks and workers is to speed up the collection and transportation of garbage and we hope that waste management in Sihanoukville will be better than before,” he said.

Mr Sokleng appealed to all residents to properly package the garbage, note the scheduled times for waste collection and clean the location in front of their houses.

More garbage problems in Sihanoukville.

Sihanoukville, Cambodia News: The garbage is piling up again on the streets of Sihanoukville and residents want an explanation. The garbage collection company KSWM claim that the crisis is due to a lack of workers, some old workers have asked to take a vacation and others have quit because they say they can not find cheap living quarters. However, KSWM said by phone that it is seeking more workers from other provinces to fill the gap. Good luck Sihanoukville residents.

Just read in a Dutch newspaper there's an unofficial planning for 5 million Chinese in the province by 2030.

Well that solves the problem of lack of workers to pick up the rubbish.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
