Taxi to Bangkok

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Has anyone rented a taxi from PP to BKK recently, if so how much was the cost and roughly how long did it take? Cheers

ive done it from Siem Reap before
Siem Reap > Poipet border = $30, takes around 2.5-3 hours i think
Aranyaprathet border > Bangkok = 1800 Baht ($54), takes maybe around 5 hours

$84 and 7 hours + ( and who knows how long at the border)
vs
1,571 ( $47) 1,921 baht $57... for an hour and 15 minute flight on air asia

PP to Kampong Thom is 1/2 way to SR I pay $30 for that ride so you'd be looking at $50 or $60 pp to SR and 5-6 hours missing from your life + the rest of the journey.
I get a taxi from sorya markets northern Y corner from the bus station ask around there

Cheers guys, $84 dollars sounds cool, I get that the price of flying can seem tempting but this is for two and the dates we want to go will be $160 with air asia, so half price is good, still on the fence though my fly anyway, will be flying on from BKK to Chiang Mai too and that will be harder after a long journey.

land journeys are exhausting, with the heat etc on top of that and the messy border crossings,
i used to travel between Cambodia and Thailand regularly so used to bus is all the time,
but i only manage it once a year now, when i travel from Sihanoukville to Pattaya (via Koh Kong) for a 2 week holiday before my Annual pilgrimage back to the motherland to see the Famalam
just far easier to travel by plane and be there from start to finish in just a few hours

since ur headed to CM
check PP- CM in air asia; sometimes its cheaper than the 2 separate flights.

Taxi ; fastest would be PP- Battambang ( 5 hours) -Poi Pet or Pailn- ( 2 hours) -Bangkok (4 1/2-5) +border 12 hours++
I usually drive via Palin but stop Chantaburi one night
also doubt u'd get one taxi and would need find one on the thai side

i bought flights from Chiang Rai > Phnom Penh in December last year, think it was around £90 with a change over in Bangkok, if youre buying check in baggage, you have to buy it for both flights, i think they give you a better rate though, think my flight total came to around £115, flight took a total of 4 hours inc the changeover i think
doing that journey by land would be hell haha
