We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. The Public Toilets for Cambodia campaign

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cities to be flush with tourist toilets
25 August 2017
The Tourism Ministry yesterday launched a campaign to install at least two public toilets in each city and district across the nation in a bid to compete in regional clean city contests.

The goal of the public toilet installations is to have the country compete in the second Clean City Contest and the first Asean Public Toilet Standard in Vietnam in early 2019, the ministry said.
Minister of Tourism Thong Khon said while launching the campaign at the Sokha Hotel that public toilets were important for green living and tourism.
“I would like to encourage the cities and districts to arrange implement the Cambodian Clean-Up campaign with the preparation of public toilets to improve the cleanliness of our towns in order to enter the second Clean City contest,” he said.

Mr Khon asked the private sector and sub-national administrations to actively participate in setting up public toilets to improve sanitation and welcome an expected increase of international tourists.

Av Rithy, a Phnom Penh resident, supported the campaign and said that it was important for the city to keep them clean after installation.
“I hope the city maintains them,” he said. “Because the ones here already break down after a few months of neglect.”

Just a thought but why not install self cleaning toilets in public spaces, will also allow the not so fresh people to shower if they just stay in after a poo.

Those public toilets need a source of water, otherwise you get some shit-smeared hell hole in the floor.

TWO public toilets in each city.

Yup, that will make a difference.

When it is realised that water only runs downhill as opposed to uphill, progress will start to happen!

Ask big company and banks to fund and maintain it, at the same time allow them some advertisements.
