Cambodia needs Bitcoin ATMs

Post by soup »

Doing some research this morning and came across this; https://coinatmradar.com/countries/

Not a single one in Cambodia. How the fuck do you expect to expand criminal activity without Bitcoin?

It's almost like They don't want you to use Bitcoin, or something.

You're right. I don't think 'They' want you to use anything but approved currencies.

As far as ATM's go, it seems you have to buy the machine, and I'm sure there is a government approval process. One can only hope at this point.

So where will Cambodia's first Bitcoin ATM be located?

Sihanoukville for the Chinese gamblers, or Siem Reap for the fly-in fly-out jetsetters?

Post ban, you make a way for the Chinese to move money in and out of BTC, and plant it in a casino at that, you're going to make a killing.

Bitcoin ATMs are a good resource, as I'd rather meet a machine with my cash than a real person. I do have visions of pumping a few grand US through the slot and it saying 'sorry, your transaction could not be processed' and then shutting down without dispensing a receipt. It's happened to me before with standard ATMs. Mind you the machine's themselves are robbing bastards anyway at 5% up on each transaction.

This is a good resource for locating bitcoin ATMs. There are apparently two machines located in district 1, HCMC.

Good idea. Someone I met who was on hols from Beijing last month was telling me a lot of transactions are actually done on the street there. I guess they must trust each other enough by using apps such as Mycellium. Although Mycelium itself doesn't list many traders in Beijing.
_----------------_------------------_--------------
For those that don't know,. Mycelium is a bit like eBay in its trust system: you look for a user's trade history of positive or negative feedback. Although, that feedback seems to be missing on my version. I'm not sure if I would trust it with anything more than very small deals.

There are no traders that come up in Cambodia, but a few in Myanmar, Thailand etc. More n the UK. Mycelium also allows for buying coins via CC, but also not in Cambodia. I would give it a half a star.
It appears Cambodia is still like Africa in that no one really trusts the country enough. Can you imagine who you might meet when arranging a person to person deal? :? .

Here's a five ways to buy bitcoin in any country article.

Just piece of advice, never make bitcoin related transactions on your account with mention of it in label or reference code with ABA Bank. Instant ban!

What happened.... they closed your account?

If someone was to transfer to ABA direct from an exchange (say Kracken), can you see this causing issues or you have any experience with it?
