GSM closing?

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

I hope there is a brass plaque in memory of the GSM, it's had it's moments. Where would Pontoon go to?
Maybe to a flash hotel and be like the nightclubs in Bangkok hotels. Some of them were really good.
Which are the good ones now, Jamie?
I can reassure you the condition of alcoholic KoWs expats in SR is way way beyond troppo , the condition they are suffering from is simply 100% pure fucking insanity.

Yeah, it would seem redevelopment rather than closure and the present occupants may keep thier leases until they run out, and presumably no longer, so yes, GSM will eventually disapear. If they do manage to attract high end retailers ( hhmm, not so sure about that) then you can probably drink 3 dollar coffees from the new tous les jour while looking out at Plan B bar and Howies! Nice!

The Lakeside was good in about 2000-2003

It went rapidly downhill after that.

you can't have a proper aussie pub in a shitty little hole in the wall. it must be spacious with a great big bar.
not many properties fill that bill.
but gsm could have an annexe easily.

as the old walkabou descended from a kind of normal pub into skank central- the security progressively weeded out the obvious thieves and meth heads- even at it's worst, it was better than gsm

When was Walkabout ever a 'normal pub'?
