Re: 3 Nigerians & 1 Vietnamese Woman Arrested in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for Internet Scams
This just made my day! Every single time Nigerians are arrested in Cambodia for scams (which, by my count is very high for the number of Nigerians living in Cambodia compared to all other nationalities combined) they freak out and talk how shitty Western countries and Cambodia are, and say Nigerians as a whole have a bad rap for no reason at all.
The part that REALLY got me is one Nigerian calling for stricter immigration!! Come on. Stricter immigration? Nigerians have a lot of trouble getting in many countries as it is compared to Western nations, so if Cambodia clamped down, Nigerians would probably struggle to get in at all.
Some highlights of the Nigerian talent Cambodia has attracted:

Is it racial profiling if it's true?

Right? No doubt it's a touchy subject, but come on. I would guess that no matter how you twisted the numbers, Nigerians in Cambodia do a lot more phone and internet scams that other nations.rozzieoz wrote:Is it racial profiling if it's true?

Ok, the Chinese do online casinos, but it's not the same.

Why would it be racial? They're being identified by nationality, not race.

As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

I worked with a couple of Nigerians in my early days here who constantly complained about being stereotyped as criminals. Unfortunately, they both turned out to be criminal scammers and fell foul of the law.
