Wiring 3 way switches

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

If there are three wires it's easy. Connect one wire to a large metal fitting, a metal stair rail or your balcony rail is ideal. It doesn't really matter which of the other wires you connect to the mains, it's AC so they are both the same. If you can try and bypass the breakers with a few thick strips of metal that will save you messing around with switches etc in the dark. Then you're ready to go.

By the time you're finished, it should look something like this:

Silence, exile, and cunning.

Are you kidding? That man is clearly a master in this country... You know how local "electricians" test for live? They literally lick their finger, and tap wires until one zaps them! :D

They just copy the way their brain is wired.
Plus, if you think that's bad, you should take a look behind that board. A spaghetti of twisted wires, no connectors, no tape.

It's really stupid of me not to have photographed all the crazy Khmer electrics I've seen or replaced here. Three phase electrics with plastic connecters connecting the power into the premses at ground level and exposed to the weather. Everything, - 6 ACs, freezers, fridges, fans, ovens etc in the large beach side business run off one phase, and a few flourescent lights run on another, leaving the third phase free. That was wired by one of the instructors from Don Bosco's.

Another job i looked at, there were only live wires in the fuse box. All the neutrals had been twisted together in the ceiling with no access. They were also red. I just told him the whole place needed rewiring. Which it did.
See crook!!!
