Lathe machine/machinist needed
Anyone know where I can find a "quality machinist" (I'll take what I can get here) that could make something for me? I have a small part I want replicated in a different material (it's aluminum but I want it in steel). It would probably only require a set of digital calipers, a lathe, metal saw and a file. Fairly simple process except for making a gear which would require a bit more skill.

Much as I hate to send the loud bastards business... my old neighbors had a lathe shop in their house. Street 444 in TTP, almost to 167, on the south side of the street. They got a ton of business (which kept me awake all hours of the day), so must have been doing it well.

Try DTW. They are a British engineering NGO and they have lots of old but hard working equipment. Plus they have excellent design capacities, speak english and have good in house trainer craftsmen. I'm pretty sure they do private work. Don't have there number but they have a website.

Interesting! Thanks Garry. I've also contacted Bryan (my usual go-to guy for steel), but I don't think he does tiny pieces like that. He might know someone though. Great leads so far!

Re: Lathe machine/machinist needed
So that small shop OD recommended couldn't do it as it required cutting out gears, but they sent me to the ULTIMATE machine shop... Seems like they can do absolutely anything. No CNC obviously but close enough. I'm getting the actual parts in 2 weeks (thanks to Flynn) so they wouldn't quote me a price yet based off my printed pictures, but things seem very promising...
