What books are you reading?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Skipped though this as I can't get into reading books but some good ideas in it. Plenty of free downloads on the net

I've always enjoyed reading Burroughs since the 60's
BUT i never knew how travelled he was
he lead a hell of a life>> an lived in some fantastic times

"Anarchist, heroin addict, alcoholic, and brilliant writer, Burroughs was the patron saint of the Beats"

“Almost indecently readable . . . captures [Burroughs’s] destructive energy, his ferocious pessimism, and the renegade brilliance of his style.”—Vogue

He was also a pederast and a wife killer. Spoiled rich kid, too.

Naked Lunch was a fun read for teenage me.

He often went with teenage ( 15+ age) boys in Mexico and Tangiers where he lived and where it was not considered immoral at the time> Not trying to justify it but merely telling it for what it was.

accidental wife killer, he was showing off playing William tell with his wife, she put a glass on her head and the gun accidentally fired low, or so he and the 2 witnesses say....he was convicted in absentia of homicide and given a 2 year suspended sentence. Happened in Mexico, its also the reason he gives that made him become a writer.

Neither take away for the fact he was fantastic beat writer

I thought I was reading 1984 by George Orwell, but then realized it was just my local newspaper.
