I've yet to meet anyone who has been to Iran as a tourist that didn't rave about the country.

A friend of mine had/has high praise for Tehran in that time period. But he was teaching the Shah's helo pilots so he had an inside track.

Richard, several people I've spoken to have been since the shah got booted...and despite the propaganda, they said it was remarkably friendly, even to Americans.

The Shah was a real piece of work, btw.

Everyone I've known that has been to Iran and the Iranians I've met have made me really want to visit the country.
As an American, its not easy to plan to go there nor to obtain a visa.
But I'd definitely like to visit there.

I went through Iran 3 times in the early 70s on the way to India, train, bus and hitchike, Lovely friendly people, lovely food and incredible sights, if they could get rid of the Mullahs and Imams and all the rest of the religious nutters it would be a serious destination. on many peoples list
