Australian Tourist Mark Whitfield Dies in Lemon Tree Hotel From Apparent Overdose in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Post by CEOCambodiaNews » Thu Jul 06, 2017 6:18 pm

BREAKING NEWS: Mark Whitfield, a 33 year old Australian national was found dead in The Lemon Tree Hotel on Street 308, along with his friend, Anthony Falanga from Darwin, Australia, who was lucky enough to live.

Mark Whitfield and Anthony Falanga were travel buddies, who entered Cambodia on July 2 via Jetstar Airways from Darwin, and were delayed boarding in Singapore, as the airline claimed they were late to the gate and denied them boarding, but they finally arrived, safe and sound in Cambodia capital city. Not safe and sound for long.

Room cleaning came to their hotel room at The Lemon Tree and when nobody answered the door, they went in and found them both overdosed, with Mark already dead, while Anthony was able to be revived.

According to Anthony, they had gone out the night before to eat an Italian restaurant, where they had a generous number of beers, and later went back to their hotel to take some drugs and sleeping pills.

Mark's profile image on his social media shows what looks to be a bunch of magic mushrooms, next to a lighter. And it is not unheard of for travelers with an appetite for illegal substances to add Cambodia to their itinerary.

Here is the last picture of Mark Whitfield (left) and Anthony Falanga (right) in Phnom Penh before Mark's death:

More information, including passport scans and images from the hotel room where Mark's body was found will be available in the Darknet Cambodia News forum.

May he rest in peace and condolences to all his friends and family.

Another picture of Anthony Falanga looking a bit too relaxed:

Can anyone take a guess as to what the caption below the pic says? It's been cut off.

Did you forget your glasses? Seriously though, I see them, and I've checked on multiple networks and devices.

oh I think you're right, that's quite unfortunate. This is the one that survived tho, luckily for him.

I know, it's 2017 and people still can't differentiate "you're" and "your".
