At 4pm on Sunday a bloody murder was committed at NET internet shop, Takhmao 1 village, Takhmao city, Kandal province, when a shop employee was stabbed to death in the bathroom by a customer. The victim has been identified as Roth Puttha, 21, from Kampong Speu.
The suspect, wearing a distinctive pink shirt was captured on CCTV going into the bathroom, then leaving the shop.

He was also seen by an eye-witness,an 18 year old customer at the shop, who says that the suspect was playing computer games on Computer No. 7. He left to go to the bathroom, but then called for the employee, saying that the toilet was blocked. The witness heard the employee screaming "Don't do it, don't do it! ". The suspect then walked out and told the witness that the man had slipped and cracked his head, and the witness went to look for help. Amidst the confusion, the suspect left the premises.

The victim was found dead on the floor of the bathroom covered in blood and suffering from twelve stab wounds, and the walls of the bathroom were also splattered with blood.

The suspect was arrested by police today 3 July, around 4:30pm in Siem Reap. His name has not been released, but the identity of the victim has now been given as Rath Puth Thmey.

Suspect arrested for shop worker stabbing

Police have arrested a man for killing a 22-year-old internet shop worker in Kandal province on Sunday.
Kandal military police commander Sam Tola identified the victim as Rath Putha, who was found dead in a pool of blood in the shop’s toilet.
He had been stabbed in the chest with a knife.

Mr Tola said the suspect was apprehended last night in Siem Reap, with the help of forces there and in Kampong Thom province.
He declined to name the man but said he had admitted the crime.
“The suspect stabbed the victim many times, killing him in the shop’s toilet,” Mr Tola said. “He then stole his mobile phone and money and fled from the shop.

“He was arrested in Siem Reap province, where he had gone to meet his parents. We identified him using CCTV footage and witnesses.”

The suspect will appear in court today.
Vong Bunly, a military police officer from Kandal, said the suspect killed the victim to steal his property. “He confessed to killing the victim because he lost gambling games online and owed people money,” he said.

Police identified the suspect as Ung Chan Ratanah, a 25-year-old vendor at Takhmao market and born in Mittapheap commune, 7 Makara district, Phnom Penh but currently living in Ta Nou village, Chak Angre Leu commune, Meanchey district, Phnom Penh.


The authorities seized a SIM card, a Samsung mobile phone, a $ 220 phone voucher, 30 million Khmer riel, a white chiffon 1, a paper bag, a Khmer national identification card, a Ford Mustang Moto.

It says that the suspect had lost $1,100 gambling on the internet and owed people money, and although he planned to steal the money from the victim, he could not get it because it was all locked in the safe. Instead he stole the victim's mobile phone.

People in Cambodia sign over their houses. Sometimes not even their own. I know some guy whose missus slipped him a mickey and used his thumb when he was out cold.

I'm buying a house on some land for 1.5 million baht. The woman likes to gamble and the son is in the clink for selling yaba. After reading this, I will be checkin the docs very carefully now! Some pit bulls, new locks and a shotgun will be on hand when junior gets out....
