Exhaustion causes 73 to faint at H&M factory in Cambodia
Over 70 garment factory workers at an H&M supplier factory in Cambodia fainted due to exhaustion on Wednesday, according to local media.
Over the years, Cambodian apparel factories have become infamous for mass faintings, which are ascribed to excessive working hours, high temperatures and a poor diet.
Berry Apparel factory was mentioned in a 2016 report by Asia Floor Wage Alliance, a global labor rights watchdog, which raised concerns about precarious working conditions at H&M supplier factories in Cambodia.
The factory is a member of Better Factories Cambodia, an International Labor Organization (ILO) initiative meant to improve working conditions at garment factories. It is also a member of the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia, a local industry body.
GMAC Secretary General, Ken Loo, said that the body will investigate the mass fainting at Berry Apparel under the mandate of a multi-stakeholder committee...

Re: Cambodia's mass faintings in the media
Something going on ? More workers faint at the same factory.
More than 100 factory workers faint over two days
1 September 2017
- More than 60 garment workers fainted in their Por Senchey district factory yesterday morning, one day after 73 fainted at the same facility.
Chom Chao commune deputy police chief Sao Sarith said 64 workers fainted at the Berry Apparel (Cambodia) factory, following the fainting of 73 workers on Wednesday.
“We helped the workers and sent them to a clinic nearby the factory,” he said. “No one suffered serious affects that could threaten their lives.”
Mr Sarith noted that doctors said the workers likely fainted due to low blood sugar levels. He said the factory management has told all workers to take a rest until Monday, because they are afraid a similar incident will happen again.Mann Senghak, deputy president of the Free Trade Union, said yesterday the workers likely fainted because their health is weak...

These faintings seem to be psychological, to me.
Money is human happiness in the abstract; he, then, who is no longer capable of enjoying human happiness in the concrete devotes himself utterly to money.

100 faint when alarm goes off
September 6, 2017
Nearly 100 workers at the KKN3 garment factory in Koh Kong Special Economic Zone fainted yesterday after an emergency alarm sounded.
Local authorities said no one was seriously ill.
Mondol Seima district governor Hak Leng said 92 workers fainted when the alarm went off at about 7am. They were sent to a referral hospital.
Mr Leng said an electrical fault set the alarm off, and added that the workers were fearful of anything that happened in their workplace and were not in good health...

Re: Cambodia's mass faintings in the media
They are taking the fucking piss. There is no way 92 people can faint at the same time, they are all acting so they can get off work. Imagine if it was a real fire alarm and they all started pretending to faint?
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Are there trees around the factory. I'm sure they could blame it on the trees.
