Time to bring russia in from the cold

Post by phuketrichard »

ON NOW:
In the West, President Putin's Russia is widely seen as an aggressor that needs to be kept in line. But could the West be to blame for the bad blood? Ever since the Wall came down, NATO has been expanding eastwards without any regard for what Moscow sees as its security interests. Arguing for the motion, Vladimir Pozner, one of Russian's best known tv journalists and a former Soviet Union government spokesman. Arguing against, Michael Hayden, former director of both the CIA and NSA. Chaired by Nik Gowing
.

A very good/interesting debate on BBC now; :beer3:

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

I'll watch it when I get home. I've always maintained that the West fails to see things from Russia's perspective. They're not acting any differently than a western nation would under the circumstances. Putin is a smart cookie as well, well spoken too. Just watch his interviews, he says it like it is without all the bullshit Western politicians spout.
