Interior Ministry officers are searching for the deputy bureau chief of Kandal province traffic police after he fired shots at a driver following a hit and run accident.

Lim Chamnan is accused of crashing into the back of another car before overtaking and driving off on Saturday night.
Video footage showed the victim sounding his horn and attempting to pursue Mr Chamnan.
However the traffic police officer wound down his window and fired shots behind him, before accelerating away.

The Interior Ministry’s General Commissariat of National Police is investigating the incident, which took place on National Road 1.

Run Rathveasna, director of the ministry’s department of public order, said deputy national police chief General Choun Sovann had ordered Mr Chamnan’s arrest.

Police have arrested the deputy bureau chief of Kandal province traffic police after he fired shots at a driver following a hit and run accident on Saturday night.
Lim Chamnan appeared at Phnom Penh Municipal yesterday and confessed to the crime.
Provincial police chief Eav Chamroeun said the officer admitted to crashing into the back of another car before overtaking and shooting his gun in the direction of his victim.

“We will follow national police protocol and issue him with a warning, confiscate his gun and suspend him from work,” Mr Chamroeun told local media.
Interior Ministry officers are investigating the incident, which took place on National Road 1.

You could be next.

That's not quite how you spell 'vacation' but I guess it's all the same in the end. Dude gets off with shooting into a crowded area, gets a paid holiday as a slap on the wrist, great deterrent to he and other coppers who consider doing it in future. I guess it's only limited by who you know/are related to.
