Foreigner Badly Beaten & Ripped Out Of Truck at CPP Rally in Phnom Penh, Cambodia After Stealing (VIDEO)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Seems most sources suggest this is NOT true.

Not really. Of course, there is another reason.

A one-on-one situation is laden with responsibility, which every rational person would carefully seek to avoid. It makes much more sense to just join in when dozens of other people are already angrily hitting the intended target. You can profiteer from that situation to circle the object of hate, and chop off an ear or a finger, and all of that in total impunity. I would not dream of doing a thing like that alone by myself, without the cover of an angry mob, which is never responsible anyway. Things like that are much better done when it will be nobody's fault!

Nobody hurt, but there was damage to another motor vehicle.
Mob attacks 'intoxicated' suspect on capital's riverside
2 June 2017
An unidentified suspect was arrested this afternoon in the capital’s Daun Penh district after being attacked by what appeared to be campaign rally-goers after he allegedly commandeered a truck and began colliding into other vehicles in a purported intoxicated stupor, local authorities said today.

Watch the video tweeted by Hong Kong Free Press here. Note: the info in the tweet was later determined to be incorrect.

— Hong Kong Free Press (@HongKongFP) June 2, 2017

Keo Sokha, the police chief for Phsar Kandal 1 commune said the suspect – believed to be a foreign national – stole the truck laden with earth near the Hong Bridge on Koh Pich, driving it up Sisowath Quay until he was apprehended by the Chamkarmon district police.

“He was [on] drugs and went into the truck and drove it and hit another car, and authorities chased him and arrested him,” he said, adding that nobody was injured in the collision.
Keo Sarun, Chamkarmon Deputy District police chief said the truck had hit a car near Aeon Mall but the owner has chosen not to file a complaint. ..

Ha! We spend hours a day hunting down leads and translating Khmer news articles for everyone, and what goes viral? A picture of a dude standing naked in the middle of the fucking street. FML.

That reminds me of the book I'm reading- The Black Tulip by Dumas, set in the Netherlands.

This is the part where the deWitt brothers, who have been betrayed by William of Orange, are being murdered by the crowd.
On this, every one of the miscreants, emboldened by his fall, wanted to fire his gun at him, or strike him with blows of the sledge-hammer, or stab him with a knife or swords, every one wanted to draw a drop of blood from the fallen hero, and tear off a shred from his garments.
And after having mangled, and torn, and completely stripped the two brothers, the mob dragged their naked and bloody bodies to an extemporised gibbet, where amateur executioners hung them up by the feet.
Then came the most dastardly scoundrels of all, who not having dared to strike the living flesh, cut the dead in pieces, and then went about the town selling small slices of the bodies of John and Cornelius at ten sous a piece.

No further information on the motivation for stealing the truck except that the driver left the keys in the ignition. More pics :
