Military officers attacked by local gang, 2 fled, 1 dead.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

There must be more to this story. Why did two military officers ride off and leave their "friend" alone, get back to school and say nothing, then wait until the next morning to see if he was alive or dead ? As it turned out, the guy was already dead, but why did they not seek help immediately ?

Gang hunted for officer’s murder

Police are hunting six men believed to have murdered a military officer and thrown his body into a pond.

The murder happened at Boeung Samrong Bak dam in Kraing Lahong village in Kampong Speu province on Friday evening.

Deputy provincial police chief Bun Piseth said the victim was Mom Sary, 30, who was attending the 86 Tank Training School based in the village.
Mr. Sary was the nephew of Lieutenant General Lanh Kao, the chief of the school.

Mr. Sary and two fellow officers at the school rode on a motorbike to bathe at a pond about two kilometers from the school. Mr. Piseth said the victim and his friends often went to bathe there.

“Upon arriving at a dam near the pond, they were attacked with long knives and beaten with sticks by six men who had been hiding nearby,” Mr. Piseth said.

“During the attacks, two victims managed to flee and rode the motorbike back to the school.

“But the military officer named Mom Sary could not escape. “He was beaten many times on his head and neck. His neck was broken and he died at the dam,” he said. The attackers threw his body into the pond to destroy the evidence and fled.
The victim’s friends found the body the next morning.

Deputy provincial police chief Som Bora said initial inquiries suggested the killing was sparked by a feud between the military trio and people who live in the village.
