Body Found On Beach In Preah Sihanouk

Police in Preah Sihanouk province are trying to identify a plastic-wrapped corpse that washed up on a beach about 20 km north of Sihanoukville on Monday night and has sparked a murder inquiry, an official said on Tuesday.

Villagers walking along the seaside in O’Tres commune in Stung Hav district spotted a large object covering a drain pit in the sand near several large shipping ports at the northern end of the province, said Chan Phearum, deputy district police chief.

The location was quite a distance from the areas frequented by tourists.

Mr. Phearum said the villagers decided to cut the bag open because it was giving off a bad smell, and found the body of a man aged between 30 and 40 years old and of Asian appearance.

Investigating officers found several stab wounds and strangulation marks on the discovered body, and concluded that the man had been murdered, probably about 10 days ago, Mr. Phearum said...

Scavengers find corpse wrapped in plastic
Wed, 22 February 2017

Scavengers on Monday discovered a body 1 kilometre from Otres Beach in Preah Sihanouk province, with a police autopsy revealing the man had been killed in brutal manner.
Deputy Stung Hav district police chief Chan Phearom yesterday said the scavengers found the body in a fetid pool of water wrapped in four plastic bags, with the man’s head inside a smaller plastic bag.

“We saw that he was stabbed near the elbow and on the shoulder,” Phearom said. “He was dropped there more than a week ago, because the corpse had already swollen,” he said, adding: “It could be that the victim was still alive and they used the plastic bag to suffocate him to death,” he added.

According to Phearom, the victim was a 30-40-year-old Asian man. No local businesses or residents reported disappearances, he said, leading police to conclude that “the body could have been brought from far away and dumped [here]”.

Provincial Governor Yun Min downplayed the discovery. “We are worried it could scare away tourists, but it is normal,” he said. “When there are more people, there are more crimes.”

I was wondering same. But there are many places that have a name that is same same but elsewhere. Just a thought.
And another is that Cambo popos & journos sometimes have alternative facts.
And another is that the writers don't have a clue as their comprehension of written word is near zilch.
