Has any one recently flown to Vietnam 1 way from bangkok or PP, with airasia/nokair/etc, with no issues, ie no need to show onward travel or return ticket.

Thank you.

I have flown in on a one-way ticket but had a real tourist visa as opposed to entering on a visa waiver -- I'm not eligible. I understand that if you are one of the blessed nationalities with free no-visa entry, you have to have an exit ticket.

Plenty of people fly in with a one-way ticket as they are heading out by boat or bus. Just tell them you are going on to Cambodia.

Thanks guys :)

I'll have to agree that an onwards ticket is the answer, especially with the visa waiver thing. I did look on the Vietnam Embassy website, but they made no mention of that. However with Thailand i do know you #must# show an onwards ticket , supposedly.

The problem indeed rests more with the Airlines who may or may not permit boarding with a 1 way flight cos if refused entry to Vietnam, they are responsible to fly you back at their cost. I did contact Air asia, but they were also unable to confirm exactly what to do, even though i have read that they are amongst #the worse# for enforcing this.

Thanks for your help's

If you want to be on the safe side, why not just book a bus ticket from HCMC to PP? Costs less than 20 Dollars.

Book your outward ticket within the visa date and just print the page out before you actually have to pay. That page has your name, flight number, date of travel and airline. That is all they require - an itinerary. Worst offending airline is Air India I believe. I was told this at Heathrow by one of their staff. I do it all the time.

I have ridden into Vietnam on a moto a few months ago on the free visa. No need for a return ticket on land borders it seems. I expect it will be no problem at the airport either, but not done it myself.

Ha!

Yes, the $20 bus ticket is a good one that i knew of, the 'hiring' of a flight ticket is very crafty, but the booking of an onward flight without paying for it is even better!

Mind you, i might just simply overland this trip now. Seems like i want to return to the South to do Phu Quoc, as well as goto the North.

Cheers. Better advice than i've gotten from Tripadvisor, or anywhere else i might add. You guys are Genius's!
